COOM--BENNETT
At St. Matthew's Church, this afternoon, a pretty and fashionable wedding was celebrated. The contracting parties were Mr Harry Floyd Coom, only son of Mr Coom, of Wellington, and Miss Beatrice Hannah Bennett, fourth daughter of the late Mr Joseph Bennett, of Otahuao, Masterton. Rev. H. Watson was the officiating minister. The bride was attired in a handsome white charmeuse dress, with veil aud orange blossoms, and was given away by her brother, Mr C. J. Bennett. The bridesmaids, Misses Wilmot and Dorothy Bennett (sisters of the bride), Mace, and Jessie Baird, wore pretty frocks of white silk and blue hats. The bridegroom was attended by Mr Wilson as best man. Mr and Mrs Coom's future home will be at Makuri. The church was prettily decorated with white flowers--a thoughtful action by some of the bride's girl friends.
A large reception was held in the afternoon at Otahuao by the Misses Vallance, aunts of the bride, and was attended by friends and relatives from all parts of Wairarapa, also from Wellington. The young couple were the recipients of many useful and valuable presents, testifying to their popularity.
