A wedding of considerable local interest was solemnised at St. Matthew's Church, Masterton, yesterday, when Mr Ernest Williams, of Masterton, son of Mr E. Helderston-Williams, of Hawthorne, New South Wales, was married to Miss Edith Emily Exell, second daughter of Mr Edwin Exell, a well-known and respected Masterton settler. The bride was given away by her uncle, Mr Edward Exell. Miss Jessie Exell, sister of the bride. Miss Edmonds (of Christchurch), and Miss Williams of Wellington) were bridesmaids. Mr David Brown was best man, and Mr A. Rigg groomsman. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. Herbert Watson, at the conclusion of which a reception was held at the bride's home. The honeymoon is to be spent in the South Island, and for there Mr and Mrs Williams left by the afternoon mail train.
