June 1935 Vestry Meeting

The monthly meeting of the Vestry was held in the Vicarage, Church Street, Masterton, on Tuesday, June 23rd, 1935, at 7.30 p.m. (Page 253)


Present

The Vicar presiding; Rev Jones, Vestrymen W Clarke, Messrs Hyde, R G Russell, W Penistone, G Hyde, H M Peacock, J Coleman and H A R Dunderdale (Treasurer) - Acting Secretary.


For absence were received from Church wardens R E Maunsell and J Ninnes.


Minutes

Of the previous meeting were read and confirmed.


Date of Vestry meetings

It was decided that in view of the suggested change in the Borough Council meetings, the next vestry meeting date be left in the vicar's hands to arrange.  Moved Dr Archer Hosking; Seconded W Penistone, Carried.


Financial Statement

The financial statement was circulated at the Trust Account balance read and received.   Rev E J Rich/R G Russell.

Accounts amounting to £9-9-3 were presented and passed for payment. Rev E J Rich/R G Russell.


Hall lighting

The Vicar reported that he had authorised additional lighting be installed in the Parish Hall at a cost of about £4, and that the Drama League had agreed to refund half the cost. 

H M Peacock/J Coleman. That the Vicar's action be endorsed. Carried.


Chapel Committee

The Vicar reported that the Committee had met and were obtaining additional information and quotations and would bring down a full report later.


Finger Post at Queen Street.

H A R Dunderdale advised that owing to the Borough meeting having been postponed for a week, no reply had been received to the request to erect a finger post at the Queen and Church Street intersection.


Kindergarten School Room

Mr G Hyde referred to the unsatisfactory condition of the building and surroundings of the Kindergarten School Room.


Offertories

Vestrymen Penistone and Clark were appointed to take up offertories for July.
