February 1933 Vestry Minutes

Minutes of Vestry Meeting held at the Vicarage on Tuesday, February 28, 1933, at 8 p.m. (Page 210)


Present
The Vicar Presiding; Churchwardens Maunsell and Ninnes; Vestrymen Hale, Hosking, Hyde, Russell, Coleman, Penistone and Clarke. Apologies Peacock and Denbee.


Minutes
The minutes of the Vestry held on Thursday Dec 1/32, also the minutes of a special meeting held on Monday, Decm 20/32 were read and confirmed.


St Matthew's School Board
In the matter of appointing (by the Vestry) a number of St Matthew's Collegiate School Board. The Vicar moved and Dr Hosking seconded that Mr Beetham be re-appointed. Carried.

In reply to Mr Harcombe's application to have certain trees removed on the Church Section [1], Mr Hale moved and Mr Hyde seconded That Mr Harcombe's application be granted as the Vestry considers the work should be done, and that the Diocesan Treasurer be advised accordingly, and that the matter be left in the hands of Dr Hosking and the Vicar with power to act.


Stubbings and Field
In reply to a letter from Misses Stubbings and Field on the use of the Common Room for Kindergarten Classes, It was resolved that they be sent a letter giving them the terms of letting.


Financial Statement
It was resolved that the Financial Statement be received and accounts totalling 6/- be passed for payment.


Tennis Club
Mr Ninnes moved and Mr Clark seconded That the £5 received from the Tennis Club be put to the Hall account. Carried.

The meeting closed with the Grace.

[1] This refers to the Church Acre, a block of land on the corner of Church and Queen Streets, the site of the original St Matthew's Church. The land is leased to businesses on the site.
