April 29, 1914, Annual Parishioners' Meeting

ANNUAL MEETING.

The annual meeting of the parishioners of St. Matthew's Church, Masterton, was held last evening, there being a fair attendance.

The annual report and balance sheet was read, and, after considerable discussion, was unanimously adopted. The vicar, in speaking to the report, said that the past year had been a memorable one for St. Matthew's Church, and, in addition to the other important matters, the new church had been opened. A day school for girls had also been opened in connection with the church, and gave every promise of being a great success, and at the same time supplied a long-felt want in the district. He would conclude by thanking all those who had given their assistance so freely to advance the interests of the church during the past year. There was much to be done in the coming year, and he hoped for the same loyalty from members as had characterised their efforts in the past.

The following officers were elected for the ensuing year--Vicar's warden, Mr. J. W. Blackman; people's warden, Mr. A. Hyde; vestrymen, Messrs. E. H. Waddington, J. B. Henry, E. Hale, W. G. Hand-Newton, E. P. Mountfort, H. F. Green. T. Evans, G. A. Jones, R. E. Jones. and T. Denbee; synodsmen, Messrs. J. W. Blackman and E. P. Mountfort; auditors, Messrs. G. Thomas and H. B. Dyer.

Votes of thanks to the various officers for services during the past year terminated a most successful meeting.
