Minutes of Vestry Meeting held in the Vicarage on Tuesday, August 26, 1924, at 7.30 p.m. (Page 63)
Present
The Vicar presiding; Churchwardens Hale; Vestrymen McCartney, Penistone, Williams, Dunderdale, Hyde, Maunsell, Ball, Best and Denbee.
Minutes
The minutes of the last vestry meeting held on July 31st, also the minutes of the Special Meeting held on Sunday, August 10th at the close of the evening service were read and confirmed.
Financial statement
The Financial Statement as appearing on Page 740 was adopted and accounts totalling £33.9.8 passed for payment.
Power Board
It was resolved that the Treasurer be instructed to pay £20 off the account owing the Power Board forthwith.
Parish Hall curtains
The Vicar moved that the Vestry places on record its appreciation of the kindness of Mr W A Kemball in handing over the old drop curtain from the Opera House to the St Matthew's Parish Hall, free of cost, and that a letter be sent Mr Kemball expressing the Vestry's appreciation and thanks for same. Carried.
Parish Hall Piano
In connection with the purchase of a piano for the hall, Mr Denbee moved, Mr Hyde seconded, that a sub-committee be set up to deal with this matter, such sub-committee to consist of Mr Best and the Vicar and that they be given power to act. Carried.
Permanent Hall Committee
It was resolved that the following be constituted a permanent Hall Committee: Messrs Williams, McCartney and Hyde, with the Vicar ex officio.
Parish Hall opening
The matter of taking up an offertory on the occasion of the Parish Hall opening was left to the Churchwardens.
Offertories
Messrs Williams and Best were appointed to take up the offertories for August.
The meeting closed with the Grace.
