October 1922 Vestry Meeting
Minutes of Vestry held on Thursday, October 26, 1922, at 7.30 pm (Pages 11-12)
Present
The Vicar, the Revd. Wm. Bullock presiding; Rev Moir; Churchwardens Major and Hale; Vestrymen Best, Whitton, Hale, Evans, Blackman.
Apologies were received from Messrs Boddington and Hyde.
Plans and specifications
A letter was received from Mr Hutton, Christchurch, acting on behalf of the Executors of the late Mr Mountfort offering the plans and specifications of the church to the Vestry at a sum of £90.
Mr Denbee moved and Mr Hale seconded That a committee be set up consisting of Messrs Major, Evans and Blackman, to go into the question of receiving the plans and specifications and to report to the next meeting of the Vestry.
Communicants' breakfast
It was resolved that the Vestry as a whole be appointed to arrange details in connection with the breakfast and that a special meeting be called at which the wives of the Vestrymen be invited and that the Secretary convene the meeting.
Section adjoining church
Mr Major reported to the Vestry the action he had taken re acquiring half the section from Messrs Gray Bros., the pros and cons of which were fully entered into after which Mr Hale moved and Mr Major seconded that a special meeting of parishioners be called (date to be arranged) and that it be a recommendation from the vestry to the parish meeting that we acquire the half section.
The motion on being put was carried.
Messrs Best and Denbee voting against the motion.
Mr Blackman moved and Mr Evans seconded that Mr Major be empowered to get an option over the land and report price to the vestry.
Financial statement
It was resolved that the Financial Statement as appearing on page 756 be accepted as read and that accounts appearing in that statement be passed for payment.
