STREET COLLISION - MOTOR CAR AND CAB COLLIDE CORNER PINE AND VILLA STREETS.

A nasty accident occurred shortly after 11 o'clock this morning at the intersection of Villa street and Pine street, when a Chevrolet car, driven by Mr Keith Harper, collided with a cab, driven by Mr Jack Wallace.

The cab was proceeding along Pine street, towards the railway station, with a load of passengers, and Mr Harper came along Pownall street and Villa street, intending to cross the Pine street intersection.

There was a slight drizzle of rain about this time, and Mr Harper failed to notice the cab until he was too close to avoid a collision.

As a result of the impact, the cab was overturned and was very considerably damaged. Mr Wallace sustained a scalp wound when he was thrown from the driver's seat, but fortunately, although the cut bled freely, it is not of a very serious nature.

Luckily the harness broke when the cab turned over, thus allowing the horses to break away from the vehicle

There were four passengers inside the cab, two men and two girls. These pas-sengers received a shaking, the girls in particular receiving a considerable shock. They had to extricate themselves from the overturned vehicle.

The lamps on the motor car were broken, and the front portion of the car somewhat damaged as the result of the impact. Fortunately, neither Mr Harper nor the lady who was in the ear were injured.

A large crowd soon congregated and assistance was rendered, the cab passengers being taken on to the railway station to catch their train.
