Special Vestry Meeting
Minutes of Special Meeting of the Vestry held in the Common Room on Sunday, October 12, 1924 at the close of Evening service. (Page 67)
Present
The Vicar presiding; Churchwardens Hale and Hosking; Vestrymen Herbert, Ball, McCartney, Dunderdale, Penistone, Williams and Denbee.
Apologies for absence were received from Messrs Hyde and Maunsell.
Business
Consideration of resignation of Organist and Choirmaster.
The Vicar having read the resignation of Mr and Mrs Hunn, and after the matter had been fully considered Dr Hosking moved and Mr Hale seconded that the resignation be accepted with regret. Carried.
Applications for organist and choirmaster
Mr Hale moved and Dr Hosking seconded that applications be called for the dual position of organist and choirmaster at a salary of £85 per annum. Applications to be addressed to the Vicar and to close on Wednesday, October 29, 1924.
The Vicar moved and Mr Hale seconded that the Secretary call for applications through the two local papers by one insertion in each paper, three insertions in the Dominion newspaper, 3 insertions in Auckland Herald, 3 insertions in Christchurch Press and three in the Otago Daily Times. Carried.
It was unanimously resolved on the motion of the Vicar that the members of St Matthew's Vestry, place on record its heartiest appreciation of the faithful services both Mr and Mrs Hunn have rendered the parish during the four and a half years they have filled the position of Organist and Choirmaster.
