Minutes of Vestry meeting held in the Common Room on Thursday, May 25, 1925, at 7.30 p.m. (Page 79-80)


Present

The Vicar presiding; Vestrymen Green, Williams, McCartney, Morton, Ball, Hale, Penistone, Best and Denbee.


Minutes

The Minutes of the last Vestry meeting held on Thursday, March 26, 1925, also the minutes of a Special Meeting held on May 10th [minutes for the May 10th meeting not in minute book] were read and confirmed.


Financial Statement

The Financial Statement as appearing on page 729 was adopted.


Correspondence from Mr G W Sellar, the St. Matthew's Tennis Club and the Diocesan Treasurer was read and received.


Signing cheques

It was resolved that either Churchwardens together with the Treasurer sign cheques.


Finance Committee

It was proposed and seconded that the Election of a Finance Committee be held over until the next meeting of the Vestry.


Hall and Building Committee

It was resolved that a Hall Committee be appointed, such committee to consist of five members (to include Vicar, ex officio) and that the old Hall Committee be re-appointed.


Parish Magazine

Mr Green moved that the Vestry take over from date hereof the liability in connection with the Parish Magazine and be responsible for same. Seconded by Mr McCartney and Carried.

The Vicar moved that a Committee of five be set up to control the magazine, one of which shall be the Vicar. The constitution of the committee to be as follows: Messrs Williams, Penistone, Morton and McCartney.


Parish Hall Blinds

It was resolved that the matter of providing blinds for the Parish Hall be left in the hands of the Hall Committee with power to act.


Tennis Club

Mr Denbee moved and Mr McCartney seconded that the St Matthew's Tennis Club be granted permission to lay down two grass tennis courts on either side of the existing asphalt court.


Tool Shed

Mr Hale moved and Mr Green seconded that the tool shed and conveniences be shifted forthwith to a site to be selected. Carried.


Offertories

Messrs Penistone and Hyde were appointed to take up offertories for June.


The meeting closed with the Grace.
