Minutes of Vestry Meeting held in the Common Room on Thursday, May 31, at 7.30 pm. (Pages 122-123)
Present
The Vicar presiding; Vestrymen Rosewarne, Smith, Major, Clarke, Ninnes, Dunderdale, Penistone, Hyde, Hale, Denbee.
Minutes
The minutes of the last meeting of the Vestry held on Thursday, March 30 1928 were read and confirmed.
Correspondence
G W Sellar
Mr Sellar wrote offering his services as Hon. Auditor for the ensuing year. Letter received.
Tennis Club
In reply to the letter from the St Matthew's Tennis Club asking permission to have the oak and pine trees removed from the far court, such letter having been held over from the March meeting.
Mr Denbee moved in view of a similar application having been received some time ago, when the Vestry went thoroughly into the desirability of having the said trees removed and arrived at the conclusion that there was no real necessity for their removal. That an answer be sent to the Club accordingly. Seconded by Mr Ninnes and Carried.
Social Committee
Mr Hyde moved and Mr Ninnes seconded that Mr Clarke be appointed to represent the Vestry on the St Matthew's Social Controlling Committee.
Parish of St Matthew Nominators
Messrs Hyde, Major and Smith were duly appointed to represent the Vestry in the matter of meeting the Board of Nominators for the purpose of appointing a Vicar to the Living of St Matthew's, Masterton, when the need arises and the Secretary was instructed to inform the Diocesan Treasurer accordingly.
Building Committee
It was resolved that the Vicar, Churchwardens, Messrs Hyde and Penistone be appointed a Building Committee for the purpose of receiving Plans and Specifications for the Clergy Vestry and Side Chapel and that they be given Power to Act in the matter of calling for tenders and accepting same.

Hall Committee
Messrs Hyde, Dunderdale and Clarke were appointed a Hall Committee, Mr Clarke to act as Convenor. The committee was requested to look more closely into the matter of the use made of the Old Parish Hall.

Accounts
The a/c of Mr G N Cole amounting to 24/7/- and Mr Penistone amounting to 23/12/- in connection with Vicarage Repairs were passed for payment.
Offertories
Messrs Hale and Smith were appointed to take up the offertories for June.
The meeting closed with the Grace.
