PATRONAL FESTIVAL
ST. MATTHEW'S CELEBRATIONS
ST. MATTHEW'S CELEBRATIONS
The Patronal Festival services conducted at St. Matthew's Church yesterday were largely attended. In the evening the Rev. F. B. Redgrave, organiser of the Anglican Board of Missions, preached on St. Matthew, and alluded to the necessity of completing the church and to efforts needed to sustain mission endeavours. In the afternoon, Mr. Redgrave addressed a meeting of clergy. St. Matthew's Church was appropriately decorated for the occasion by members of St. Matthew's Horticultural Club.
A most enjoyable social was held in the Parish Hall at the conclusion of the evening service. Items were contributed by St. Matthew's Collegiate School choir, under the direction of Mrs Feildhouse, and Mesdames Feildhouse, Hirst and Pinckney, and Mr. Venner. Games, under the direction of Mrs. B. Welch, and dancing were indulged in. Mrs. G. Hyde supervised the refreshments.
