August 1933 Vestry Minutes

Minutes of Vestry Meeting held at the Vicarage, on Tuesday, August 29, 1933, at 7.30 p.m. (Page 220)


Present

The Vicar presiding; Churchwardens Maunsell and Ninnes; Vestrymen Clark, Penistone, Russell, Hyde, Hale, Dr Hosking and Denbee.

Apologies: Messrs Griffin and Coleman.


Minutes

The minutes of the Vestry meeting held on Tuesday, July 25, 1933, were read and confirmed.


Tennis Club

A letter was received from the Tennis Club regarding permission to have the oak tree at the north-eastern corner of the tennis court removed.

Mr Hyde moved and Mr Ninnes seconded That the tennis club request "Be Granted." Carried.

It was resolved that the resolution passed at a Vestry meeting in June 1932 authorising the Tennis Club to have the surrounds of the courts asphalted "Be re-affirmed."


Financial Statement

Mr Denbee moved That the Financial Statement as presented be received and accounts submitted, amounting to £36.7.4 passed for payment. Seconded by Mr Ninnes and carried.


H A Harcombe

A further letter (dated Aug 14) was received from the Diocesan Treasurer in connection with leasing a further 40 feet of the Old Church Section [Church Acre] to Mr Harcombe.

It was resolved that a sub-committee consisting of Messrs Ninnes and Denbee be set up to negotiate with Mr Harcombe and that such sub-committee be given power to act conditionally on the minimum rent to be 25/- per foot.


Kuripuni Section

In the matter of repairing a fence at Kuripuni and the offer of Miss Shute to provide wire netting for same, It was resolved that Mr Penistone be asked to inspect and report on the matter to the next meeting of the vestry.


Offertories

Messrs Griffin and Penistone were appointed to take up the offertories for September.


The meeting closed with the Grace.
