October 1934 Special Vestry Meeting
Minutes of Special Meeting of the Vestry held in the Church grounds on Thursday, 4th Oct, 1934, at 5 pm. (Page 241)
Present
The Vicar, Messrs Maunsell, Ninnes, Dr Hosking, Coleman, Russell, Hyde, Penistone and Ramsay.
Apologies Peacock and Denbee.
Storm damage
Mr Penistone detailed the damage done in the recent storm [1]. After full discussion and examination of the damage Mr Ramsay moved and Mr Maunsell seconded That a committee consisting of the Vicar, Messrs Ninnes, Hosking and Penistone be set up with power to act in all matters concerning the restoration of the church property. Carried.
Mr Hyde moved and Mr Ninnes seconded, That the broken gate and fence be not repaired and that same be removed. Carried.
Mr Hyde moved and Mr Ramsay seconded That application be made for assistance of relief workers in clearing up the grounds.

[1] A violent storm hit the Wairarapa on Monday, 1 October 1934. There was widespread damage right across the district. This story in the Pahiatua Herald of 3 October 1934 paints a picture of extensive damage.
