Vicarage fireplace
Mr Maunsell moved That the fire place in the Vicar's study be bricked up on lines suggested by Mr Green; [hot water system] that the circulation be lagged, and an element put in, at an estimated cost of £25 and that supervision of same be left in the hands of Mr Penistone, seconded by Mr Green and carried.
Mr Tustin [organ builder]
The Vicar read a letter from Mr Tustin re the state of the organ. Several vestrymen expressed dissatisfaction with Mr Tustin's work in connection with the organ.
Mr Best moved and Mr Penistone seconded that the services of Mr Tustin be dispensed with. Mr Maunsell moved as an amendment, and Mr Green seconded, that Mr Sandford be asked to report on the organ. The amendment on being put was declared carried. The amendment then became the motion and was declared carried on the voice.
Mr Best wished his vote recorded against the motion.
Fernridge Church
Mr Penistone asked that Fernridge be assessed £26 per annum in lieu of the present system of offertories.
It was resolved in view of the old vestry going out of office in a month's time, that the matter be deferred for the new vestry.
Tennis Club
Mr Denbee brought forward a request from the members of the Tennis club asking permission to place their side wire fence on the boundary line in Park Avenue, thereby doing away with the necessity for erecting a new fence and asking the vestry to bear one on half of the cost of such wire fence, the estimated cost of which would be £7.
Further that permission be granted the Club to have the oak tree on the vicarage section side removed.
It was resolved that a sub-committee be appointed to meet a committee from the Tennis Club on the site and bring down a report to the next meeting of the vestry.
Parishioners' Meeting
Mr Denbee moved and Mr Best seconded, That the Annual meeting of Parishioners be held on Thursday, April 29, and that it take the place of the usual vestry meeting. That light refreshments be provided and that Mrs Hale be asked to be responsible for same and that she be given power to add to the number and to select her own helpers, Mr Hale undertaking to inform Mrs Hale.
The meeting then closed with the Grace.
