November 29, 1928 Vestry meeting

Minutes of Vestry Meeting in the Common Room on Thursday, November 29th, commencing at 7.30 pm. (Page 132)


Present

The Vicar in the Chair; Messrs Clarke, Penistone, Rosewarne, Smith and Churchwardens Hosking and Maunsell.


Apologies

Apologies were received for the absence of Messrs Denbee, Hale, Hyde and Major.


Old Church Hall

Mr Bullock moved and Mr Smith seconded. It was carried That the Masterton Amateur Theatrical Society be asked to take away from the old Parish Hall all their materials.


Repairing roof of new Church with slates

Mr Clarke moved and Mr Penistone seconded That the roof of the new Church be repaired with slates where required and the cost not to exceed above £5 -.


Finance Committee

Dr Hosking moved and Mr Clarke seconded and it was carried That Messrs Dunderdale and Major be a committee to go into the finances of the parish with H A [unreadable] and prepare a report to be submitted to a special meeting of the Vestry to be held  on [date unreadable].


[Unreadable] shelves in Vestry.

Dr Hosking moved, Mr Clarke seconded and it was carried That the matters of shifting? peg shelves in the vestry be left in the hands of the Churchwardens.


All Nations Fair

Mr Bullock moved, Mr Maunsell seconded and it was carried That the Vicarage repairs debt be paid out of the surplus from the All Nations Fair.

Mr Rosewarne moved, Mr Bullock seconded and it was carried that the debt of the Choir Fund be paid out of the All Nations Fair.

Dr Hosking moved, Mr Maunsell seconded and it was carried That the interest due on the Parish Hall to 1/12/28 be paid forthwith.

The All Nations Fair was the parish's main fundraising effort for the year. Held in early October 1928 it ran for three days with stallholders dressed in the national dress of various countries, included entertainers and an evening concert.


Financial Statement

The Vicar moved, Mr Smith seconded and it was carried That the Financial Statement as appearing on page 698 be adopted and accounts appearing thereon be passed for payment.


Offertories

Messrs Penistone and Clarke were appointed to take? up the offertories for December.


The meeting closed with the Grace.
