April 1923 Annual Meeting

Annual Meeting of Parishioners held in the Common Room on Thursday, April 26, 1923, at 8 p.m. (Pages 26-27)


A large and representative attendance of ladies and gentlemen were presided over by the Vicar, the Revd. Wm. Bullock.


Minutes

The Minutes of the Last Annual Meeting, also the minutes of Special Parishioners' Meeting held on the 30th November 1922 were read and confirmed.

Apologies for absence were received from Mr J W Blackman.


Churchwardens' Report

Mr Bullock moved and Mr ? seconded that the report of the Churchwardens be accepted as read.


Report and Balance Sheet

Mr Major, having reviewed many items in the Balance Sheet and the finances of the parish generally, moved that the report and balance sheet as circulated be received. Seconded by Mr Hale and Carried.


Vicar's Report

The Vicar read his report which dealt in a very comprehensive way with the many guilds, organisations and individuals who had individually and collectively assisted in the working of the parish during the last year.


Parish hall and Sunday School

Mr Dodge moved That this meeting of parishioners hereby authorise the Vestry of St Matthew's to proceed forthwith with the preparation of plans and the devising of a financial scheme for the building of a Parish Hall and Sunday School and submit the same to a special meeting of Parishioners. Seconded by Mr Hyde and Carried.


Election of Officers

Mr E Hale was unanimously re-elected Vicar's Warden for the ensuing year.

After a number of Gentlemen had been proposed and seconded as Parishioners' Warden, the same gentlemen in every instance having declined to accept the office, Mr Dodge withdrew his objection and was duly declared elected Parishioners' Warden.


Vestrymen

The following nominations were received for the position of vestrymen:

Messrs Hyde, Trimen, Waddington, Ball Senr, Best, Evans, Clarke, Dunderdale, Hosking, Hubert, Whitton, Denbee and Miss Boddington.


On a ballot being take the following were declared duly elected.

Messrs Hyde, Trimen, Waddington, Ball Snr., Evans, Dunderdale, Dr Hosking, Herbert, Whitton and Denbee.


Auditors and Secretary

It was resolved that a hearty vote of thanks be accorded Messrs Baddely and Pointon for their past services as Hon. Auditors and to Mr Denbee as Hon. Treasurer.

Dr Hosking proposed and Mr Denbee seconded, that Messrs Sellar and Boddington be appointed Hon. Auditors for the ensuing year. Carried.


Meeting then closed.
