November 1932 Vestry Minutes
Minutes of Vestry meeting held at the Vicarage on Thursday, Nov 1, 1932, at 8 pm. (Page 207)
Present
The Vicar presiding. Churchwardens Maunsell and Ninnes; Vestrymen Coleman, Clark, Russell, Penistone, Hal and Denbee.
Apologies
Apologies for absence were received from Messrs Peacock, Hyde and Treasurer.
Minutes
The minutes of the Vestry meeting held on Tuesday, Oct 28 were read and confirmed.
Financial
Mr Denbee moved That the Financial Statement as presented be received and accounts totaling 11.8.5 passed for payment. Seconded by Mr Ninnes and Carried.
Canon Watson
Mr Denbee Moved that Canon Watson be reimbursed his travelling expenses amounting to £1.5.0 in connection with his recent visit to St Matthew's. Seconded by Mr Hal and carried.
Envelope system
It was resolved that the sample envelope as submitted by the Secretary of the envelope system be adopted and that he be authorised to procure 1000.
Taueru [Tauweru] Church
The Vicar moved that a letter of thanks be forwarded to Miss Armitage for her generous action in altering and saving the Frontal hangings for the Taueru Church without cost. Seconded by Mr Russell and carried unanimously.
Organ Repairs
Arising from the minutes of the last meeting of the Vestry the Vicar reported. The sub-committee (appointed to bring down a report in connection with the repairs to the organ) were unanimously of the opinion that the work should be entrusted to Mr Tustin.
Mr Ninnes Moved and Mr Hale seconded That the Secretary ascertain from Mr Tustin when he will next be paying his periodical visit to Masterton and that arrangements to make for the Vestry to meet Mr Tustin[1], with a view to getting the work of repairing the organ finalised. Carried.
Lawton and Osborne
Mr Denbee moved and Mr Ninnes seconded That the resolution passed at the August meeting, whereby Lawton and Osborne[2] were told they would be given an opportunity to tender for repairs to the organ be 'Rescinded." Carried.
Gas Radiators
Mr Denbee having reported on the result of an interview with the Gas Manager re the removal of the old obsolete Gas Radiators from the Church.
Mr Coleman moved and Mr Denbee seconded That arrangements be made forthwith for the removal of the Radiators and that an additional Wall Fire be installed in a position to be arranged. The whole to be carried out in the terms of the arrangement with the Gas Manager, Viz, Free of Cost to the Vestry. Carried.
Offertories
Messrs Penistone and Hale were appointed to take up the offertories for December and Messrs Hyde and Hosking for January 1933.
The meeting closed with the Grace.
