June 24, 1926 Vestry Meeting

Minutes of Vestry Meeting held in the Common Room of the Parish Hall on Thursday evening, the 24th June 1926 commencing at 7.30 p.m. (Page 95-96)


Present

The Vicar (Rev. W. Bullock) in the chair; Churchwardens A Hosking and L B Maunsell; Vestrymen Best, Briden, Hale, Hyde, McCartney, Morton, Penistone and S W Smith.

Absent: Green and Denbee who sent apologies.


Minutes

The Minutes of the Meeting held on 27/5/26 were read and confirmed.


Organ

The Vicar reported that the organ engine was in need of repairs so he had had it attended. His action was confirmed. (Hale/Hosking).

A letter was read of Mr Sandford's to the Vestry giving a report on the organ and stating that they would effect repairs quoted there on of £200. After discussion the following Organ Repairs Committee was appointed, namely Messrs Best, Briden and Penistone, with an instruction that they report their work as a Committee to the Vestry from time to time.

Mr Sandford's report was handed to Mr Best.


Technical School

No reply was received re the basket ball ground.


Painting church doors

Was letter of thanks sent to Mr Spiers?


Finance Committee

Recommended that  £50 be applied for from the fund held by the Diocesan Trustees of accumulated rents from the Old Church Acre. This was put to Vestry and carried (Bullock-Hosking).

They recommended that Mrs Hugh Beetham, Miss Vallance and Miss K Morrison be asked to become canvassers for subscribers to the Church funds. This was also put to the meeting and carried. (McCartney & Penistone.)

The meeting requested the Finance Committee to outline a scheme for raising funds for paying for repairs recently effected to the organ and the vicarage and for further repairs to the organ and heating the Church.


Accounts submitted for payment and financial statement.

The statement of receipts and expenditure was appearing on page 715 was adopted and account appearing thereon passed for payment.


Parish Hall Fund

The Treasurer drew the Vestry's attention to the fact that certain funds expected to help pay the interest payable on the mortgage on the Parish Hall had not been transferred to the fund yet.


Lansdowne Public School

Wrote applying for the use of the old Parish Hall for one night a week - without rent. Mr Hale moved that the request be not granted and Dr Hosking seconded. Mr S W Smith moved as an amendment that they be allowed the use of it for 3 months and Mr McCartney seconded. The amendment was lost at the original motion carried.


The meeting closed with the Grace.
