November 1923 Vestry Meeting
Minutes of Vestry Meeting held at the Vicarage on Thursday, November 22, 1923 at 7.30 p.m (Pages 44-45)
Present
The Vicar presiding; Churchwardens Hale and Dodge; Vestrymen Waddington, Tirmen, Evans, Hyde, Dr Hosking, Herbert, Ball, Dunderdale, and Denbee.
Minutes
The minutes of the last ordinary meeting of the Vestry held on Thursday, Sept 27th, also the minutes of a special meeting held on Thursday, Nov 12, 1923 were read and confirmed.
Diocesan Treasurer, Kuripuni Section
In response to the letter from the Diocesan Treasurer re the disposal of the section at Kuripuni.
Mr Waddington moved, Mr Denbee Seconded That having in view the possibility of a section being required at some future date on which to build a vicarage for the southern end of the Parish, we are of the opinion the section under review in Kuripuni Street can never be a suitable or desirable site for a Vicarage, we therefore instruct the Secretary to write the Wellington Diocesan Board of Trustees for permission to sell the aforesaid section. Carried.
Parish Car
The Vicar reported on the Parish Car, expressing himself as being satisfied with same, also that he had sold the Motor Cycle for the sum of £27/10/-
Painting vicarage
Mr Hale moved and Mr Herbert Seconded that the Tender of Mr J C Hall for painting the vicarage for £67.10.0 be accepted.
It was resolved that the offer of Mr Dunderdale to lend the Vestry £60 at 5% for 12 months, for the purpose of paying for the Painting of the Vicarage, the Vestry to have the right to pay off the principal by instalments at any time be accepted with thanks.
Financial Statements
The Financial Statements as appearing on page 747 was adopted and accounts totalling £35.2.8 as appearing thereon passed for payment.
Parish Hall
It was resolved that Messrs Pavitt and Sladden be instructed to make a survey of the section purchased from Messrs Gray Bros.
The Vicar moved That the architect be instructed to prepare detailed plans and preparations for building the new Parish Hall.
That a sub-committee consisting of Messrs Evans, Dodge, Hyde, Hosking and the Vicar be set up to consider the planes and preparations and to report to a further meeting of the Vestry. Seconded by Mr Hale and Carried.
It was resolved that the next meeting of the Vestry be held on the last Thursday of January 1924.
Offertories
Messrs Evans and Hosking were appointed to take up the offertory for December and Messrs Ball and Dunderdale for January.
The meeting closed with the Grace.
