August 1922 Vestry Meeting

Minutes of a Vestry Meeting held in the Old Church Building on Tuesday, the 29th August 1922, at 7.30 p.m (Pages 7-8)


Minutes

The Minutes of the meeting held on 27 July 1932 were read and confirmed.


Present

The Vicar (Rev. W. Bullock) in the chair - Rev Moir; Churchwardens E Hale, A C Major; Vestrymen Blackman, Clark, Hyde, Trumen, Waddington.


Apologies

Best, Denbee (apologies) Evans, Welch and Whitton.


Treasurer

Mr Major proposed and Mr Hale seconded That as Mr Halliwill finds himself unable to carry out the duty of treasurer at present Miss Kathleen M Dyer be appointed Treasurer pro tem with a remuneration at the rate of £25 per annum.


Banking Accounts

Mr Blackman proposed and Mr Waddington recorded that the Bank of New South Wales be notified that the banking accounts be operated on by any two of the following: Ebenezer Hale and A C Major (Churchwardens) and Kathleen May Dyer (Treasurer).


Building Scheme

Mr Major reported that the Building Scheme Committee had had a meeting and he read correspondence that had passed between the Treasurer and himself regarding the Old Church Site [Church Acre] and the buildings thereon. Mr Blackman, another member of the committee, reported that £900 was the estimate given by a competent builder for building the Memorial Chapel.

Mr Major proposed and Mr Hyde seconded That the secretary write to the executors of the late Mr Mountfort (Architect, Christchurch) and ask as to what price the Vestry might purchase the plans and specifications of St Matthew's Church.


Site for parish hall etc.

A discussion took place regarding this and it was decided that the 'Building Scheme' Committee meet on the Church Acre and decide.


Organ

The Vicar reported a leak in one of the pipes and it was left in the hands of the Churchwardens to attend to it. Moved Mr Major, seconded Mr Waddington.

That Mr Watts be offered a remuneration of £5 a year to supervise the pump room of the organ.


Letting the Parish Hall

Mr Blackman proposed and Mr Waddington seconded That Mr H H Boddington be approached to take charge of the letting of the Parish Hall.


Church of the Epiphany

Mr Blackman reported that the Ladies Guild at Kuripuni had some money in hand for building a vestry at the Church of the Epiphany and that he had been requested to apply to the Vestry for permission to have the work gone on with. Mr Waddington moved and Mr Hale seconded that the matter be left in the hands of the clergy and Mr Blackman with power to act.


Fernridge School

A letter was received from the Secretary of the Fernridge School Committee giving permission to the use of the school for church purposes on Sundays.

It was moved (Blackman) seconded (Trimen) That a letter of thanks be sent to the Secretary.


Financial Statements

The statements as appearing on page 758 was read and accounts as appearing on page 758 were passed for payment.


Kuripuni

A discussion took place as to what amount Kuripuni should provide towards the assessment.


Offertories

Messrs Clarke and Evans were appointed to attend to the offertories for the ensuing month.


The meeting closed with the Grace.
