November 1923 Special Vestry Meeting

Minutes of Special Meeting of the Vestry held at the Vicarage on Thursday, Nov 13, 1923, at 7.30 p.m. (Page 42)


Present

The Vicar presiding; Churchwarden Hale; vestrymen Dr Hosking, Hyde, Termin, Waddington, Ball and Herbert, also Mr A G Major.

An apology for absence was received from Mr Mr Denbee.


Business


Loan offer

Consideration of an offer of a loan of £1800 made by Mr J Evans.

After general discussion had taken place the Vicar moved and Mr Hyde Seconded That this Vestry of St Matthew's, Masterton deserves to express its appreciation of the offer of Mr J Evans to lend the sum of £1800 at 6% per annum for a period of 5 years, commencing 1st December 1923, for the purpose of building a Parish Hall and that this Vestry accepts the offer.  Carried.


Ladies' Guild and Girls' Club

The Vicar moved and Mr Waddington Seconded that the Ladies' Guild, The Girls' Club and such other bodies interested in the Parish Hall, be respectfully requested to make the Annual Interest of £108 on the Parish Hall Loan - a first charge on all monies raised by them during the next five years. Carried.


Trustees for Section

The Vicar moved and Dr Hosking Seconded That this Vestry authorises and requests the Trustees of the Land purchased from Messrs Gray Bros to raise a Loan of £1800 for a term of 5 years commencing 1st Dec 1923 (bearing interest at the rate of 6% per annum payable quarterly, for the purpose of erecting a social hall and Sunday school building on the said land and undertakes that the interest on the said loan shall be regularly paid until the loan is paid.
