February 1923 Vestry meeting

Minutes of Vestry meeting held in the Common Room on Thursday, February 22, 1923, at 7.30 p.m. (pages 20 and 23. 21 and 22 blank)


Present

The Vicar presiding; Churchwarden Hale; Vestrymen Waddington, Evans, Clarke, Trimen, Hyde, Blackman and Denbee.


Apologies

Apologies for absence were received from Messrs Major and Whitton.


Minutes

The Minutes of the Vestry meeting held on Thursday, January 25, 1923, were read and confirmed.


Telephone for Rev. Moir

Mr Denbee informed the Vestry that Mrs Inns had approached him enquiriing whether the Vestry wished to take over the telephone at present installed in her home, for the use of the Rev. Moir.

It was resolved that the Vestry arrange with Mrs Inns to leave the telephone in her house for Mr Moir.


Parish magazine

Mr Denbee placed the financial position of the Parish Magazine before the Vestry and stressed the necessity for taking steps whereby the financial position of the magazine account can be improved.

Mr Hale moved that a sub-committee be set up for the purpose of going fully into the magazine account, such committee to consist of Messrs Evans, Major, Waddington and Denbee, with the Vicar as convenor. Seconded by Mr Clark and Carried.


Motor car allowance

Mr Denbee gave notice of his intention at the next meeting of Vestry to move that the resolution passed at the Vestry meeting in November 1921 relative to the Motor Car upkeep allowance "Be rescinded."


Financial Statement

The Vicar moved that the financial statement as appearing on page 751 be taken as read and accounts appearing thereon passed for payment.


Painting Church of the Epiphany

Mr Blackman moved and Mr Waddington seconded that the Vestry of St Matthew's authorises painting of the Church of the Epiphany, subject to the consent and approval of the Vicar and the parish.


Offertories

Messrs Waddington and Denbee were appointed to take up the offertories for March.


The meeting closed with the Grace.
